(3.21.16) Saint Luke’s Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathleen Lis Dean, Ph.D. as Senior Director for Evaluation, Outcomes and Learning (pictured at right above) and Kristen Summers as Grants Manager (pictured at left above).
Dean possesses more than 20 years of experience in outcomes assessment, accountability and continuous improvement, leadership development, and institutional effectiveness. Prior to joining the Foundation, Dean served as a consultant with ModernThink. Past work includes roles with John Carroll University and the University of Maryland. Additionally, she continues to volunteer as a mentor for the Higher Learning Commission’s Assessment Academy.
In her new role, Dean will be responsible for providing leadership for the Foundation’s evaluation efforts, outcomes measurement and learning in order to advance the Foundation’s mission of improving and transforming the health and well-being of Greater Cleveland.
“Kathleen is committed to helping organizations establish goals and achieve outcomes through collaboration and the use of evidence,” said Anne C. Goodman, President and CEO of Saint Luke’s Foundation. “She is ideally suited to her role, and we are thrilled to have her as a key member of our team. She will facilitate internal and external learning related to our mission and ensure that what we learn is integrated into our work as part of our journey of continuous improvement.”
Dean is a graduate of the University of Delaware, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. She earned a Master of Education degree from the University of Delaware. She also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education Policy and Leadership – Higher Education from the University of Maryland, College Park.
In her new role as Grants Manager, Summers will manage the grant database, online applications and grantee reporting process. She will evaluate requests at all stages of the process and provide assistance to grant seekers and grantees, from initial contact through the life of the grant. She will also direct all technical components of grants management, including the structure of grants and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Summers worked at Monarch Teaching Technologies, Inc. Past roles included work at ELS Language Center and the Office of Global Education at Kent State University. She is a graduate of Kent State University, receiving Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in French Translation.
“Kristen has great skill and intuition when it comes to organizing large amounts of data in such a way that it can be used for learning,” Goodman added. “Additionally, her tech-savvy know-how will help the Foundation utilize technology in ways that facilitate our work internally, and our interaction with grantee partners and community stakeholders. She will be a tremendous asset to the Foundation in her role.”
