Cleveland, OH – On September 7th the Board of Trustees of the Saint Luke’s Foundation approved the total of nearly $1.3 Million in grants to 12 organizations during the third quarter of the year. These investments advance the Foundation’s mission to achieve health equity by addressing social determinants of health including educational attainment, financial stability, healthy eating and active living, safe and affordable housing, social connections, and the strengthening of the neighborhoods surrounding the former Saint Luke’s hospital.
“The Foundation is pleased to announce increased multi-year grants to partners aligning with our mission and consistently demonstrate impact,” said Tim Tramble Sr., Saint Luke’s Foundation President and CEO. “This year, 69% of our strategy partners have an annual budget under $1 million, up from 35% last year. We’ve allocated 76% of our total grant dollars to BIPOC organizations, up from 59% last year. Our commitment goes beyond supporting proven organizations; we’re actively working to support new organizations doing exceptional work.”
Highlights of the Third Quarter Grants Awarded to Close the Health Equity Gap:
Educational Attainment
- Seeds of Literacy – (1 year, $40,000) for general operating support for ongoing programs and workforce development activities in Buckeye, Woodland, and Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods.
Healthy Eating Active Living
- A Vision of Change – (1 year, $65,000) for AVOC’s Community Health Home to mobilize Community Health Workers in to the community.
Housing Safety and Stability
- Undivided Cleveland – (1 year, $50,000) for Clean Home Lead Safe Initiative for lead remediation for families in Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods.
Financial Stability
- Economic and Community Development Institute (ECDI) – (1 year, $40,000) for general operating supporting
- Thea Bowman Center – (2 years, $200,000) for general operating support
- The Phe’be Foundation – (1 year, $65,000) for Community Wealth Phase UP and other financial health and wellbeing initiative such All Things Money (ATM) and Wealth to Workforce programs for Woodhill Homes residents.
Neighborhood of Choice
- Union Miles Development Corporation – (2 years, $500,000) for Southeast Side Capacity Building in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood
- The Meeting Place Learning Center – (1 year, $50,000) for general operating support for youth development programs in Buckeye, Woodland, and Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods
- Life Exchange Center – (1 year, $50,000) for general operating support for social support, educational programs, and life skills training for individuals in recovery.
- Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio – (1 year, $80,000) for general operating support for two Clubs at John Adams High School and Saint Luke’s Manor.
Social Connections
- See You at The Top – (1 year, $50,000) for SYATT Youth Lead Certification, and youth leadership and outdoor programming.
- United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland, Inc.– (1 year, $100,000) for general operating support
