Saint Luke’s Foundation and City Club Host Jeff Fuhrer on Economic Inequality

(June 21, 2024) – The City Club of Forum will host Jeff Fuhrer, Non-Resident Fellow, Brookings Institution; and Foundation Fellow, Eastern Bank Foundation this Friday, June 21st, 2024.  As an ecominst, he will discusss the research from his book, The Myth That Made Us: How False Beliefs about Racism and Meritocracy Broke Our Economy (and How to Fix It). Fuhrer explores the link between widely held but false narratives about poverty and race and poor outcomes for many in the U.S. economy. From a supposedly post-racist nation and the self-made man, Fuhrer argues that systemic racism continues to produce vastly disparate outcomes and that our brand of capitalism favors doing little to reduce disparities.

This forum is a part of the Saint Luke’s Health Equity Forum Series with the City Club of Cleveland.

The livestream will be available beginning at 12:00pm. Have questions? Send a text to 330.541.5794.
