In light of the recent Supreme Court rulings in the Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard and v. University of North Carolina cases, a significant shift in the landscape of university admissions and efforts to address systemic racial inequalities has arisen. These rulings challenge the fabric of our society, influencing our ability to cultivate communities where all individuals have equal opportunities to thrive.
Despite this, the Saint Luke’s Foundation remains steadfast in our mission to address the social determinants of health for those in and around Saint Luke’s and Cuyahoga County. Our mission is firm and resolute. Our vision upon the horizon is in clear view. Our measure of success is in equitable grantmaking. We reaffirm our commitment to racial equity. You will continue to see it not only in our words but most importantly in our actions.
In response to these rulings, we reaffirm our three key commitments:
- We will continue practicing equitable grantmaking, to address health disparities in the communities we humbly serve.
- We will continue to shift power to the communities we support by inviting residents, community leaders, and nonprofit leaders into engage in participatory grantmaking by involving them in our grantmaking process via our community engagemant platform, “Lift Every Voice 216”.
- We will stay dedicated to examining our processes, creating equitable opportunities, and collaborating with philanthropic and nonprofit partners. As we navigate these challenges, we uphold our commitment to health equity and remain resolute in our pursuit of a healthier, more equitable future for all.
We will continue our unwavering commitment to health equity and remain focused on creating a healthier, more equitable future for all.
