Dear Partners and Stakeholders of the Saint Luke’s Foundation,
For nearly 30 years, the Saint Luke’s Foundation has been dedicated to achieving health equity for the neighborhoods we serve. Along the way, we have celebrated milestones that deepened our impact and expanded opportunities for the communities we call home. Today, we are proud to announce the next milestone in Saint Luke’s history: the exploration of a new ground-level headquarters in Cleveland’s Woodland neighborhood. Open Doors, Brighter Future reflects accessibility, transparency, and our belief in community connections.
This is not simply about a building. It is about creating a place that mirrors our community-facing philosophy and culture. It is about a space where neighbors are welcomed, where voices are heard, and where people can gather with dignity. It is about health equity, because health equity demands access, and access requires doors that are open.
At the heart of Saint Luke’s Foundation is our commitment to equitable grantmaking and to improving health outcomes in our neighborhoods. That primary focus is firmly planted, such that grantmaking will remain the Foundation’s highest priority. This plan of action has been built on financial stewardship and responsibility, and we will continue to safeguard investments in our strategy partners who are the drivers of life-altering resources to residents of our Footprint.
Before any schematic plans are conceived and any design features are determined, residents were engaged first and will continue to be engaged at every step of the process. Just as Lift Every Voice 216 has been a tool in reshaping our grantmaking to be more responsive to the interests of those we seek to uplift, community voice will now shape the very foundation and walls of our new home. Undoubtedly, the process will be open to, inclusive of, and guided by community.
We will also honor and respect our historical presence in the community. Our headquarters will stand within the eyesight of the former Saint Luke’s Hospital and Saint Luke’s Campus, a site that represents both legacy and resilience. It will rise alongside the Woodhill Choice Neighborhood redevelopment, becoming part of an emerging renaissance that will amplify the catalytic convergence of placekeeping and placemaking.
Later this month, we will invite architecture firms to submit qualifications to design this building and its surrounding outdoor amenities. Their proposals will be guided and strengthened by resident insights already garnered in recent community conversations and gatherings. We are committed to equity-focused development that layers culturally competent planning and design expertise with the wisdom and foresight of community stakeholders. We know from experience that people support what they help create.
Open Doors, Brighter Future is a statement of our values. This is our promise to the community, and we are proud to make it.
Moving Forward Together,
