Nearly $420,000 Granted by The Saint Luke’s Foundation for Third Quarter Grants for 2022

CLEVELAND, OH – On September 7th the Board of Trustees of the Saint Luke’s Foundation approved grants to 7 organizations totaling $419,800.00. These investments advance the Foundation’s mission to achieve health equity by addressing social determinants of health including educational attainment, financial stability, healthy eating and active living, safe and affordable housing, social connections, and the strengthening of the neighborhoods surrounding the former Saint Luke’s hospital.

Highlights of the Third Quarter Grants Awarded to Close the Health Equity Gap:

Educational Attainment

  • Seeds of Literacy – (1 year $40,000) for General Operating Support to strengthen literacy skills among participants and increase workforce development initiatives

Financial Stability

  • The Phe’be Foundation (1 year, $64,800) for the continuation of financial literacy and generational wealth-building programs

Neighborhoods of Choice

  • Life Exchange Center (1 year, $50,000) for peer-run advocacy and education organization that empowers unemployed and low-income adults with tools on their journey of mental health/substance recovery
  • The Meeting Place Learning Center (1 year, $50,000) for General Operating Support to support children’s growth and educational empowerment through after-school, summer, backpack outreach, and preschool programming

 

Social Connections

  • See You At The Top – (1 year, $40,000) for General Operating Support to engage youth, youth groups, schools, and families in environmental education curriculum and physical activities
  • Thea Bowman Center – (1 year, $100,000) for General Operating Support for adult education and supportive senior programming including GED classes, computer literacy training, job preparation skills classes in partnership with Tri-C, Ohio Means Jobs, and Towards Employment
  • United Black Fund – (1 year, $75,000) for General Operating Support for the Center for Thriving Organizations which provides workshops, training, and consultation support for nonprofit organizations in Northeast Ohio led by Black, LatinX, and Indigenous Leaders.
