Sep. 24, 2020 (CLEVELAND) Saint Luke’s foundation announced and welcomed Peter Whitt as Senior Program Officer. Peter serves a key role in the foundation’s grantmaking process, which includes research, relationship development, applicant support and decision making.
Whitt comes to Saint Luke’s with 20+ years of experience in nonprofit and organizational management including work as the principal leader of Enlightenment Consulting Group, LLC. Additional past professional leadership experiences include Director of Community Outreach at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, and as the Associate Director for the Center for Health Equity at Cleveland State University, where he managed a million dollar research effort centered on academic and community partnerships within the Central neighborhood.
Whitt’s community engagement skills have supported community leaders and neighborhoods on topics of leadership, policing, and racism. He has advanced training and certifications in organizational interventions and coaching through the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, and presents at national conferences addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion through a polarity lens.
“We are excited to add the capabilities of Peter Whitt onto an already highly-talented staff here at the Saint Luke’s Foundation,” said Tim Tramble, President and CEO of Saint Luke’s Foundation. “Peter brings a wealth of knowledge in health equity, community engagement, consensus building and polarity management in his 20 years of on the ground experience. He will undoubtedly provide invaluable insight to our effort to bridge health equity for disadvantaged populations in Cuyahoga County.”
“To be a part of this organization at this time, in a climate of tension and challenge, comes with excitement and readiness,” Whitt said. “It is a privilege within a collective power to be trusted, to be courageous, and have the will to make a difference that can last. The purpose is much greater than I.”
Whitt holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh, and a bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University. He is a native of Cleveland, Ohio where he values his lived experiences that have emerged from the urban core of our near east and westside communities.
